Editor-In-Chief, Adam Rizvi, The India Observer, TIO, NJ: In the Name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

We, the undersigned New Jersey based organizations representing a broad and diverse population across the state, express our collective solidarity with our Palestinian brothers and sisters struggling to live their daily lives in the face of the brutal Israeli military occupation.

We are outraged at the continuing scenes in Jerusalem at the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, which is one of the holiest sites in Islam and to the world’s 1.5+ billion Muslims, where Israeli occupation forces have once again used excessive and lethal force against defenseless worshippers during the holy month of Ramadan. The attacks against the worshippers continues a well established pattern of indiscriminate violence against Palestinian men, women and children exercising their basic human right to worship peacefully in their holy places.

We call on all of New Jersey’s Federal Elected officials, including Senators Booker and Menendez and our entire congressional delegation as well as Governor Murphy to condemn these violent attacks. We ask them to hold the Israeli Government accountable for its actions and to demand an end to the aggression against Palestinian worshippers at the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound. We further ask them to demand that both Muslim and Christian Palestinians in and around Jerusalem, which has been their cultural and spiritual center for nearly two millennia, be given the true freedom of worship at their respective holy places.

We also want to sincerely thank Congresswoman Bonnie Watson Coleman of the 12th District for having the courage of her convictions to quickly raise her voice in condemning the actions of the Israeli authorities in attacking these peaceful worshipers and desecrating their holy places.

Our organizations are very proud of the strong and enduring relationships we have built with other faith and ethnic communities. We remain steadfast in our commitment to promoting peace, justice and tolerance in our communities and around the world. We call on people of good conscience from all backgrounds to raise their voices in solidarity with the Palestinian people in Jerusalem.
