President Kovind Addresses Nation on I-Day Eve, Hails Indian Army, Women, Farmers


New Delhi, Aug 14: President Ram Nath Kovind addressed the nation on the eve of Independence Day. President began the address by congratulating the nation on India’s 72nd Independence Day and paid tribute to all the freedom fighters. Hailing the Indian Army and farmers, President Kovind said that while one protects the country from any threat, the other provides food to every corner in the country which strengthens the freedom of the nation and helps in creating the India freedom fighters’ had dreamt of.

“15 August is sacred for every Indian. Our tricolour is a representation of our nation. Independence of India was a result of the sacrifice of freedom fighters and ancestors,” he said, adding, “When we provide better weapons for soldiers, develop supply-chains for defence equipment in our country itself, and offer welfare facilities to the soldiers, we create India of the dreams of our freedom fighters.”

President Kovind said, “The citizens who wait in a queue for their turn and respect the rights of those standing in front of them, create the India of the dreams of freedom fighters. This is a very small effort. Let us make it a part of our lives.”

President Kovind went on to mention the women of the country and the “significance” they provide to the country. “Women have a special significance in our society. They should have the freedom to choose their path, whether they want to use their skills in the development of house, in the workforce, or in educational institutions,” he said.

He said that as a society and a nation, the Indians have to make sure that women are provided all the rights and capabilities move ahead in life.

“Today we are close to the ambitions that we have been working on for several years. Today we help the youth in their skill development. We encourage them for entrepreneurship, technology and engineering. When we encourage the youth of the country to take up sports and develop apps, we are making the India of the freedom fighters’ dreams,” he said.
