Jalwa 2018 hautes up NJ fashion meter. Rohit Verma showcases his new collection


New Jersey. Royal Albert’s Palace, Edison, NJ was the hauttest venue for all New Jersians with Jalwa 2018 being hosted at the venue, the fashion show for Indian Americans organized by Jhoom Events (Tarang Soni) and Royal Albert’s Palace (Shobhana Patel) recently.

A first of its kind fashion show, Jalwa 2018 saw celebrity Bollywood fashion designer Rohit Verma displaying his contemporary collections for 2019 tiled Shadow of Emotions.

Music and fashion came together on stage with the show getting off to a tuneful start with a beautiful jugalbandi from Meri Aawaz Suno America Finalists,  singers Preeti Sethi and Rupali Venugopal, followed by winner of Meri Aawaz Suno America Pennsylvania Rahul Sharma and New York Winner Sanan Ahmed.

This paved the way for a sizzling evening with foot tapping dance performances, sizzling ramp walks and other performances that kept the audiences begging for more. Rohit Baxi and the team from the Satrangi Fusion Dance Group dazzled the stage with their lively group dance performance.

This was followed by an adorable Kids Ramp Walk with Atharva Soni, Harsh Pare, Kiaan Rasuri, Rishan Pawar, Aaliya Talwadker, Arusha Bakshi, Kabir Kumar, Tanisha Gupta wowing the audience with their cute smiles and confidence. The kids strutted onstage on the popular song “Jhatka jara sa”, choreographed by Tarang Soni

Then followed the event that the audience was waiting with bated breath for. The fashion show debuting celebrity designer Rohit Verma’s collection. Mystical and magical, a Shiv Tandav set the stage on fire with its tremendous energy and verve. This was followed by the theme song Jalwa from the Madhur Bhandarker hit film Fashion. Displaying their Gothic looks the models walked confidently in their designer ensembles wooing a delighted audience

in the stunning ramp walk. when asked by this writer how you feel to a model Kiran Sharma, she replied,” to be in charge of ones own life is a glorious thing. I make sure I take charge in my life to prevent any regrets”. The main models participating in the event were Kim Kumari, Reema Gadkari, Esha Kode, Kyra Lalwani, Sanjana Chekuri, Lekha Gowda, Kiran Sharma, Saakshi Sethi, Antra Patel, Shilpi Jain, Pujan Neopane, Iffat Shaheen, Kareena Kumari, Saikar Halder, Sakshi Malhotra, Saloni Sawant. A huge applause greeted choreographer  Tarang Soni for the wonderful amalgamation of style and oomph at the Fashion show.

Care had been taken to ensure the outstanding decor matched the theme of the fashion show. Hospitality arrangements had especially been organized keeping in mind the eclectic tastes of the guests and multi-cuisine snacks and beverages flew lavishly off the waiters’ trays and were much appreciated by the guests.

Make up for the show, in keeping with the theme, was done by Shikha Bhamia and Nighat for the artists and models. Emcee Manav did a fabulous job of engaging the audience and keeping the mood of the evening upbeat and energetic. DJ Sandy managed the sound and music.

The show drew to a close with venue host Albert Jasani honoring Rohit Verma with a memento on behalf of Jhoom Events and Royal Albert’s Palace. A vote of thanks was delivered by Shobhana Patel and Tarang Soni who thanked Rohit Verma, the media, sponsors, artists, models, DJ, Emcee and the appreciative audience for a lovely evening.
